Well it is official I am 35th. Big things in my life seem to happen in 5s: I started working with EnCompass in my 15th year; I was married in my 25th year; I had my first child in my 30th year. So I have decided that this is the year for the school expression to finally come together. Since I started this blog with the birth of my second child, I have not hadas much time as I thought I would to keep up with all the blog posts that cross my mind as I am scurrying about my days.
So, I feel the need to get current and keep it up. We have suffered a recent big setback – the building that I was so sure would be THE one, has fallen through. Our saint of a real estate broker (Sara) says these things sometimes happen for no apparent good reason. Well that was the case here, the building owner just decided to totally shift direction with the building without so much as a wink of notice to us. So, now that they have reneged on all their promises, and I have worked through my initial shock and anger, I am left with the lessons to bring forward into the new building search. Next time around I am not going to be so nice, I am not going to get too emotionally attached to the space (no drawing up what my classroom will look like), I am not going to tell anyone nor even think that the space is ours until I have something signed by the landlord, and I am certainly not going to believe any promise until I see it in writing. Good thing is that I feel really great about who we were in the process.
Good news – we have an almost completed new brand and marketing approach. It is amazing. I can’t wait to share it with all of you. This Sunday we have our April Board meeting and I hope it will be approved and if it is, you will see many new things to come. A new website soon, a new name, a new look and feel to our brand – totally amazing work by Owen Jones and Partners.
So in my 35th I am taking the warrior stance, fighting for what I believe to be the greatest expression for humanity in a long time, watch out world – you asked for it!
